The Strategic Plan

Sorbonne University’s strategic 5-year plan (2019-2023) defines the major strategic orientations of the University focused on four main priorities of development:

The Strategic Plan

Acting in a global world

With its scientific strengths and reputation, Sorbonne University has set itself the primary goal of developing its impact and attractiveness at the European and international level. In this respect, it has developed a limited number of long-lasting and comprehensive strategic partnerships, including research and training, with leading international universities. It is also increasing its participation in EU programmes and initiatives, and fostering more student, faculty, and staff mobility.

Participating fully in open science, digital and data revolutions

The university is involved in the digital revolution that is giving new importance to data and its use. Thus, Sorbonne University equips itself with cutting-edge infrastructures, trains, raises awareness and develops research around digital and artificial intelligence. It is also committed to reasoned use, demands greater transparency and ethics, and promotes open science.

Understanding, learning and entrepreneurship in a changing world

As a key player in the realm of public debate, Sorbonne University is at the forefront of knowledge and its dissemination to all its students. As a provider of expertise and flexible enough to respond to society's expectations and questions, it adapts its teaching methods, supports and encourages entrepreneurship and stimulates innovation. It is thus able to support and enlighten society in the challenges it faces: globalisation, mobility, digital revolution, demographic and health changes, environmental transition, etc.

Establishing the new university and asserting its identity

The values of Sorbonne University are based on its long history of higher education, research and innovation in service to its community and to the society at large. Sorbonne University’s identity is intimately attached to this history. It is on this foundation that Sorbonne University has continued to build its standing as a world-class, research-intensive public university.

Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine teaches the 3 cycles of medical studies: from PASS (integrated into the faculty) to the 3rd cycle including DES, DESC, DU and DIU. The lessons are given mainly on two sites: Pitié-Salpêtrière and Saint-Antoine. The faculty also provides paramedical education: speech therapy, psychomotricity and orthoptics. The Saint-Antoine site includes a midwifery school.

Welcome to Sorbonne University's Faculty of Science & Engineering

A unique combination of courses and expertise

Our international study programmes are organised according to the major disciplinary areas of the faculty. They represent the graduate study programmes that are not strictly conducted in French or that could be suitable (in part) for non French-speaking students. They also reflect part of the diversity of the disciplines involved and the bi- and inter-disciplinary aspects of many of the courses we offer.

Research & Innovation

We rely on disciplinary skills and on interdisciplinary approaches to renew concepts, methods and research subjects and to focus on some of the crucial issues faced by our societies: transformations affecting the very construction of knowledge (data, AI), the treatment of complex objects (the environment, marine and ocean sciences, cultural heritage) or our contributions to addressing societal challenges (climate change, healthcare).

Campus Life

In addition to the cultural activities and events organised throughout the year by our clubs and societies, the Parismus society organises numerous events, evenings and cultural visits that will help you discover France and its parisian life.
