  • Sorbonne University, Pierre et Marie Curie Campus

    4 place Jussieu 75005 Paris

As part of the partnership between Sorbonne University and the National Autonomous University of Mexico - UNAM, the Observatory of Heritage of the Sorbonne University Alliance (OPUS) and the LANCIC (Laboratorio Nacional de Ciencias para la Investigación y Conservación del Patrimonio Cultural, National Laboratory for the Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage) of UNAM are organizing the second edition of a week-long summer school in Paris (France) on the subject of the materiality of color. The program will be conducted in English.

After the first edition in Mexico City in 2022, this second summer school entitled “Inventing, analysing and restoring color” will bring together art history and heritage science. The objective of this interdisciplinary event is to invite students in art history, heritage science, archaeology, chemistry and physics to discover and experiment with new methodologies in order to better understand the materiality of color.

Applications are open to 1st and 2nd year master’s students, as well as doctoral candidates from Sorbonne University and UNAM working on the theme of color and materiality across all disciplines (humanities, arts, and sciences.)

Applicants must submit the following documents via email by April 6:

  • CV
  • A 500-word cover letter explaining how the candidate’s research may contribute to the summer school: Name, department/university, current position (PhD student, postdoc, other); educational background; research activity and interests; motivations for participating in the school.
  • The name and email address of one reference.

The summer school will be free of charge and Sorbonne University will offer lunch and coffee breaks to all participants.

Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine teaches the 3 cycles of medical studies: from PASS (integrated into the faculty) to the 3rd cycle including DES, DESC, DU and DIU. The lessons are given mainly on two sites: Pitié-Salpêtrière and Saint-Antoine. The faculty also provides paramedical education: speech therapy, psychomotricity and orthoptics. The Saint-Antoine site includes a midwifery school.

Welcome to Sorbonne University's Faculty of Science & Engineering

A unique combination of courses and expertise

Our international study programmes are organised according to the major disciplinary areas of the faculty. They represent the graduate study programmes that are not strictly conducted in French or that could be suitable (in part) for non French-speaking students. They also reflect part of the diversity of the disciplines involved and the bi- and inter-disciplinary aspects of many of the courses we offer.

Research & Innovation

We rely on disciplinary skills and on interdisciplinary approaches to renew concepts, methods and research subjects and to focus on some of the crucial issues faced by our societies: transformations affecting the very construction of knowledge (data, AI), the treatment of complex objects (the environment, marine and ocean sciences, cultural heritage) or our contributions to addressing societal challenges (climate change, healthcare).

Campus Life

In addition to the cultural activities and events organised throughout the year by our clubs and societies, the Parismus society organises numerous events, evenings and cultural visits that will help you discover France and its parisian life.
