A new partnership with India

Sorbonne University is one of four establishments that has been awarded funding for the creation of a French-Indian campus.

The call for projects was launched by the Ministries of Europe and Foreign Affairs and of Higher Education and Research. It was designed to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation with India, and more specifically in the field of life sciences for health.

Sorbonne University representatives participated in the workshop held in India to meet and discuss a variety of tailored, ambitious programs to support cross-cultural mobility between students in France and the Indo-Pacific region. This French-Indian agreement will also have multidisciplinary, highly transversal research through innovative partnerships. This research ecosystem will include university professors, clusters, start-ups and industry cooperation to ensure the development of education through research.

The Sorbonne University's primary partner for the French-Indian Campus is the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. This Institute has numerous centers of excellence and it has many complementary research areas with Sorbonne University in health and life sciences.

The future campus aims to offer the entire spectrum of academic courses, such as:

  • Bachelor's-Master's-Doctorate courses, with the eventual aim of developing joint Master's degrees;
  • Professional training, to be built in connection with the needs of companies (local and French). An administrative arrangement was signed in 2019 for the development of vocational training between France and India;
  • Continuing education, to mobilize industrial partners;

The campus is also intended to enable young graduates/researchers to discover entrepreneurship, in conjunction with the Franco-Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IFCCI), a platform that will facilitate links between academic partners and French companies, some of which are in the health sector.

Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine teaches the 3 cycles of medical studies: from PASS (integrated into the faculty) to the 3rd cycle including DES, DESC, DU and DIU. The lessons are given mainly on two sites: Pitié-Salpêtrière and Saint-Antoine. The faculty also provides paramedical education: speech therapy, psychomotricity and orthoptics. The Saint-Antoine site includes a midwifery school.

Welcome to Sorbonne University's Faculty of Science & Engineering

A unique combination of courses and expertise

Our international study programmes are organised according to the major disciplinary areas of the faculty. They represent the graduate study programmes that are not strictly conducted in French or that could be suitable (in part) for non French-speaking students. They also reflect part of the diversity of the disciplines involved and the bi- and inter-disciplinary aspects of many of the courses we offer.

Research & Innovation

We rely on disciplinary skills and on interdisciplinary approaches to renew concepts, methods and research subjects and to focus on some of the crucial issues faced by our societies: transformations affecting the very construction of knowledge (data, AI), the treatment of complex objects (the environment, marine and ocean sciences, cultural heritage) or our contributions to addressing societal challenges (climate change, healthcare).

Our campuses offer different and unique experiences to our students, visitors and staff. Resources and support services are also available to ensure an equal chance at success to all.

Campus Life

In addition to the cultural activities and events organised throughout the year by our clubs and societies, the Parismus society organises numerous events, evenings and cultural visits that will help you discover France and its parisian life.
