Sorbonne University Attends the LERU-CE7 Meeting in Prague

Sorbonne University president, Nathalie Drach-Temam, attended the LERU-CE7 Rectors’ Assembly alongside partners of the 4EU+ Alliance, including Charles University.

This participation in the regular meeting between European university networks is a strong signal of the importance of European cohesion and the solidarity in higher education and research.

The meeting agenda included a number of important topics in European university policy, on the progress and lessons learnt to establish a more balanced participation across member states and building research and innovation capacity. The goal is to ensure that research-intensive universities in the EU advance together.

The program also included a discussion on research, education and innovation during the Czech Presidency of the EU, as well as the involvement of LERU and CE7 members in the Academia Europaea, which is a European Academy of Humanities, Letters and Sciences. The LERU and CE7 rectors also renewed commitments with the signing of a LERU-CE7 partnership agreement.

Sorbonne University’s commitment

As an active member of LERU since 2012 and Chair of LERU from 2018 to 2021, Sorbonne University has been committed to advancing and reinforcing EU policy in higher education for many years. A joint meeting involving CE7 is a strong signal for Europe right now at a geopolitical moment that requires the strengthening of European construction. By participating in this meeting in Prague, with its partners from the European University 4EU+ including Charles University, Sorbonne University is shaping the political and practical construction of the European Higher Education and Research Area.

Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine teaches the 3 cycles of medical studies: from PASS (integrated into the faculty) to the 3rd cycle including DES, DESC, DU and DIU. The lessons are given mainly on two sites: Pitié-Salpêtrière and Saint-Antoine. The faculty also provides paramedical education: speech therapy, psychomotricity and orthoptics. The Saint-Antoine site includes a midwifery school.

Welcome to Sorbonne University's Faculty of Science & Engineering

A unique combination of courses and expertise

Our international study programmes are organised according to the major disciplinary areas of the faculty. They represent the graduate study programmes that are not strictly conducted in French or that could be suitable (in part) for non French-speaking students. They also reflect part of the diversity of the disciplines involved and the bi- and inter-disciplinary aspects of many of the courses we offer.

Research & Innovation

We rely on disciplinary skills and on interdisciplinary approaches to renew concepts, methods and research subjects and to focus on some of the crucial issues faced by our societies: transformations affecting the very construction of knowledge (data, AI), the treatment of complex objects (the environment, marine and ocean sciences, cultural heritage) or our contributions to addressing societal challenges (climate change, healthcare).

Campus Life

In addition to the cultural activities and events organised throughout the year by our clubs and societies, the Parismus society organises numerous events, evenings and cultural visits that will help you discover France and its parisian life.
